Welcome to the Hartland Town Band website!
We are a community
band from Hartland,
Harton Town Band, as it was originally known, formed in the early 1890s. During the Second World War the Band disbanded due to members being called for active service and becoming part of the Home Guards.
The reformation of Hartland Town Band as we know it today was in early 1960 under the baton of Mr. Gerald Thorne.
Today, over fifty years on, the Band still thrives and is proud to have one of the original members of the reformed group, Mr. Gordon Redcliff in its ranks.
Under the musical direction of Mr. (Rev) John Thompson, the Band boasts twenty five musicians from Hartland and the surrounding villages. The Band can be heard, twice weekly, rehearsing in the St. Johns Arts and Music Centre, as well as various events and concerts throughout the year.
Encouraging the ‘future generations’ to carry forward the brass band tradition in the village is an important to the Band; there is a small Training Band who meet weekly and we are always willing to welcome new members.
